Understanding Focus Session Saving & Retention Rules

innook Team2026-06-293 min read

At innook.space, we value the quality and accuracy of your learning analytics. To help you maintain a clean, distraction-free study history, we have introduced new rules for when your focus sessions are saved to the Focus Trail.

Why Did We Change the Rules?

Previously, any session ended by a user—even those lasting just a few seconds with empty tasks—was completed and saved. This often cluttered your statistics with empty and accidental records. To ensure your Focus Trail reflects actual, quality work, we have established clear saving thresholds.

Rule 1: Sessions with Active Tasks

If you assign tasks to your study session in the Focus Progress section, the session will be saved only if you complete at least 1 task during the session. Completing tasks shows real engagement. If you abort the session without finishing any tasks, the session is discarded from your history. Any incomplete tasks will be safely restored to your todo list so you can try again.

Rule 2: Sessions without Tasks

If you prefer studying without listing specific tasks, you must complete at least 30% of your initial target duration (e.g., at least 15 minutes of a 50-minute session). If you exit the room before reaching this threshold, the session is considered incomplete and will not be recorded in your history, preventing accidental clicks from ruining your stats.

What Happens to Aborted Sessions?

Aborted sessions that do not meet the above criteria are deleted. However, your drafted tasks are never lost—they are automatically returned to your active list. Setting a clear boundary helps you build a more disciplined and honest study habit. Let's make every minute count!
